National Automobile Club of Azerbaijan (AMAK), together with the representatives of Azerbaijan Journalists’ Network Public Union, organized educational seminar in the presence of media representatives on “the role of mass media in the process of advocacy for disabled people”. In the seminar that was held in ADA University the following subjects were discussed with the invited journalists: “The model of approach to disabled people, terminology”, “Barriers that disabled people face and their reasons”, “Mass Media representatives as advocates of disabled people”, “Convention on the rights of disabled people”.

The seminar was organized as part of AMAK’s project on “accessible transport for disabled people: collection of information, preparation of the package of proposals”. The main objective of the research project that started in September is to define the obstacles that disabled people face daily in transport, prepare proposal packages according to the estimation of results by defining current emptiness.

In this seminar, experts and specialists in this field educated journalists on this subject and emphasized that the role of media in the process of advocacy should be much more important.
