AMAK Volunteering Story

The National Automobile Club of Azerbaijan (AMAK) was founded in 1999 and became an FIA member club in 2015. One of the main goals of AMAK is to actively promote road safety through various research projects, training programs, and educational projects at schools in order to raise awareness among drivers and pedestrians and to improve road safety culture in Azerbaijan.

AMAK strongly believes that involving volunteers can help reflect and build a bridge between us and the community we serve and demonstrate that we value our community or clients and their experiences and that we want to invest in their future

AMAK in partnership with Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST), the FIA Foundation, the British Embassy in Baku, Ministry of Education and State Traffic Police Department of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been implementing its project on road safety education at public and private schools and kindergartens in Baku educating over 2000 children since 2016. During this project, AMAK uses its partner EASST’s Comprehensive Road Safety Education Pack that is design the ed to teach road safety to children up to the age of 14.

AMAK as part of its social projects has involved over 20 volunteers/intern students of the country’s most prestigious universities as ADA and Baku Engineering universities as road safety activists. These activists deliver road safety training to the schoolchildren, kindergarten children, their parents, guide and support the teachers in both schools and kindergartens in the education process. It has been one of the successes and innovative approaches adopted within the project in order to make road safety initiatives in the country sustainable and empowering the youth and in our case students to get hands-on experience and contribute to the cause. Along with the leading the road safety education process, the volunteers/interns have been involved in organizing and implementing various awareness campaigns on transport and mobility challenges of people with disabilities, as well as importance of child car seats by distributing booklets, brochures, conducting surveys and sharing important facts and figures to raise awareness and improve road safety culture among general public in the country.

AMAK is  working with volunteers on many ongoing social projects and is planning to involve more volunteers in its future road safety projects and initiatives and by doing so develop a talent pool for the country’s big scale initiatives, as well as support the government in implementation of the “State Program on Road Safety for 2019-2023” y. AMAK’s main objective to involve volunteers in its social programs is to make a positive contribution to the sustainable development of road safety in the country.
